Meet the 'Dream Team' at the LAA Rally - 30th Aug - 1st Sept
Meet the disabled team Building A Dream at the Northamptonshire Air Rally
Visitors to this year’s LAA Rally will have the chance to meet some of the volunteers working on Aerobility’s Building A Dream project: the world's first aircraft built and flown by a team of disabled people.
The team of disabled engineers will be attending the upcoming Light Aircraft Association (LAA) Rally at Sywell Aerodrome, Northamptonshire (31st Aug – 1st Sept 2019) to showcase their latest project to change the lives of disabled people.
The unique light aircraft has been under construction since 2018. The finished aircraft will contain custom-built hand controls, enabling pilots who cannot use standard controls to fly alongside their peers. Once completed, the one-of-a-kind plane will be a valuable addition to Aerobility’s existing fleet, enabling more people with disabilities to access the freedom of flight.
This pioneering Building A Dream project is only possible due to support from the community, hard-working volunteers and passionate sponsors.
Visitors to the LAA Rally are warmly invited to meet some of the team involved in Building A Dream and learn more about how they can help to bring this this exciting project to completion.
During the Rally, we will also be raffling a new PilotAware Rosetta traffic awareness system for light aircraft and a year’s license for the software to help raise funds to help complete the project.
Aerobility CEO, Mike Miller-Smith, who has Muscular Dystrophy, said, “When you have a disability, your life can become restricted, and your horizons can become narrower. Aerobility removes barriers and offers disabled people a real sense of achievement and life changing freedom through flying. Through projects like Building A Dream, we want people to see what is possible, and understand that disability doesn’t have to be a limitation in life. We’re looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at the LAA Rally and seeing more people get involved in taking Building A Dream to the skies.”
Visit Aerobility at Marquee B, Stand 24, at the LAA Rally (31st Aug – 1st Sept, Sywell Aerodrome, Hall Farm, Northamptonshire, Sywell NN6 0BN) to find out more about how to get involved with the project.
