Having decided to reduce my hours and work part-time this gave me time to play with. What to do with the additional time was the big question. I have worked in mental health for more years than I would like to say so do enjoy the people side of life. I looked around for a volunteering role and found and joined Aerobility in 2016. I did not know about Aerobility until I looked to volunteer but am glad I did.

Being a volunteer at Aerobility has introduced me to the aviation world and the people within it, but like me volunteers come from all walks of life. This has been so different to my career and I have been fortunate to meet so many new people. I have also had the opportunity to undertake different task and roles and to learn new skills, and that’s always a good plan.

The people that come to fly with Aerobility have a range of disabilities but have a can-do attitude. So we are here to help. There is nothing quite like seeing the face of someone, old and young, when they return from their flight. Usually with a smile on their face that will not come off!!

At the end of the day I feel as if I have helped in a small way and I hope to continue for some time to come.
